Nothing Comes Without Sacrifice
1. Learn to love your work and commit yourself to becoming outstanding in your field. Take the time, pay any price do whatever is necessary to become the very best at what you do. Become excellent.
NB Remember, the race goes to the one who is just a little bit better in the critical areas. If you'll take the time and make the effort to really put yourself into it and learn to love what you do, you WILL become excellent. When you become Excellent that's when you enter the big money ranks of business professionals. Every human being has the ability to become good at something. Pay any price to achieve what you have set out to do and commit yourself to that goal.
2. Decide exactly what it is you want in life, then set your goal or target. Decide the price you're going to have to pay and sacrifices you're prepared to make and do everything to achieve it. Remember nothing worthwhile comes without sacrifice. Don't be like the majority who spin their wheels getting nowhere. Decide your goals and targets then ACT on them - that's why it's so important to write your goals down in detail (less than 3% of the people NEVER decide what they want exactly in life - and end up spinning their tyres... they work hard and get frustrated! Think about your goal every day, get a clear mental picture, hold it in front of you - create a dream board for yourself.
3. Back every goal and plan with persistence... with abominable will power! Put your whole heart and soul into what you determine your success is - don't hold back and don't allow anything to discourage you. Your level of persistence in the face of adversity determines your belief in yourself.
How well you respond to the disappointments, setbacks, challenges and adversities in life is your exact measure of your belief in yourself. You can tell where you're going to be in a year, by how well you respond to the inevitable adversities, rejections, disappointments, deals that fall through, every single day in your business. This will also show you what you're made of.... circumstances do not make the man, they simply reveal them to himself. You can tell how well you bounce back - as Charlie Tremendous Jones once said, it's not how far you fall, it's how high you bounce that counts - resilience, flexibility, the willingness to bounce back, to take the rough hard knocks and shocks of your career and to keep on keeping on is one of the key characteristics of successful men and women in every field.... especially in our industry.
4. Remember, nothing worthwhile ever comes without sacrifice!
5. Commit yourself to life-long learning.... attend seminars, read, listen to self-improvement tapes and attend courses and never forget that most valuable asset is your mind and what you put into your mind. As you learn you become more valuable with the information stored in your mind. We start life with a very limited amount of practical knowledge and as we learn and grow we become more valuable. Learn to apply these to practical purposes and learn that the more we learn the more our rewards will be! As we gain more experience, our knowledge grows and our rewards in life grow. However, one very dangerous thing with this pot of knowledge is that it has a steady leak at the bottom and if you're not continually learning more or staying constant with the knowledge you have, the knowledge we have is actually diminishing! The incompetent person of tomorrow or the illiterate is the person who has stopped learning and growing and stopped increasing their value and they're reducing their value every single day. So remember never stop learning.... learn and practice something new every day. Make yourself a life-long learning organism and never stop learning. One of my favorite expressions is "If you're green you grow, but when you're ripe you rot!!!"
6. Time Management - Use your time wisely. The most important single question in managing your time is to ask yourself constantly "what is the most valuable use of my time RIGHT NOW. When you can always answer that, you'll never go wrong! Follow the leaders.... follow the ones who know where they're going... going somewhere with their lives. What can I do to be more successful? What books are you reading or what CD's/tapes are you listening to? If you hang out with people who are not success oriented or if you associate with a reference group not success oriented, that alone can stop any possibility of you being successful in life. Bird's of a feather will flock together! Associate with people whom you'd like to be like. In 5 years time you will be the aggregate of the sum total of all your friend's worth. We're like chameleons we take on the colouring, opinions and attitudes of people we associate with and who are around us on a regular basis. If you associate with turkeys you'll never fly with the eagles!!
7. Guard your integrity as a sacred thing. Ralph W Emerson said, "The most important thing you'll ever have is your integrity". Shakespeare said, "To thine own self be true then it must follow as the night the day and canst be false to any man" .... in other words be true to yourself ! As long as you're looking at what you're doing, and you know it's what you should be doing, you're going to feel great about yourself. Plan your work and work your plan!! Many can't stand the freedom of being self-disciplined and a self-organized life style and end up going back to a salaried job!
NB: You're answerable to yourself, the person in the mirror.
8. Use your inborn creativity. Think of yourself as a genius. Everyone is born a genius. Every person has the ability to perform at genius levels. Deep down inside of us we have enormous reserves of creativity which if stirred will bring out patterns we had not previously given thought to. Everybody has the ability to do at least one thing well. All this is, is that your sensitivity, awareness, creation issues operate at their highest level when you put your mind to that one thing. When you see a problem or obstacle, look upon it as a challenge. This is just a challenge for me to apply my creative mind to removing, like a rock in the road! Do this in an outstanding fashion. What holds us back in other areas, is our minds, is our belief thinking "I'm only average", or "I can't do that" "what's the use of trying". Stir and apply your creative mind daily. Treat every prospect well, as a million $$ customer as though they're the most important person in the world. As Jesus of Nazareth, 2000 years ago said "do unto others as you will have others do unto you" Treat every prospect well, then ask yourself this universal law.......
"What kind of company would my company be, if everyone in it were just like me?"
One of the wealthiest self-made millionaires in the world, Baron de Rothschild uses this key to his success in life... "work hard, work smart and you will succeed... put shoulder to the wheel, start early and work late". Put your time in now, rather than later....
Allow me to share this analogy with you:
Do you know how to fly an aircraft? If you do, you'll know what I'm talking about and perfectly relate to the scenario....
When you get clearance from the tower for take-off and you pull onto the strip, you've done your checks then you aim the aircraft down the runway. You put on full throttle to go down the runway and you whip down that runway at full speed. The air lifts up the wings and the plane climbs and climbs at full throttle until you reach cruising altitude, right? You have to do that in order to get off the ground, right? You have to have full throttle to get off the ground, but you cannot maintain full throttle once you're off the ground, 'cos it would burn up the engine and use too much gas. So, when you reach cruising altitude you pull the throttle back a little, right? You don't have to have it at full blast in order to maintain speed and performance.
Similarly, this is the way our lives and network marketing careers are made up... up to a certain point in our careers we have to put on full throttle in order to take off and get to the height where we don't have to keep it at full throttle any longer, which will give us the time we want to be with our families, or more time for holidays or do the things we want to do.
Let me ask you... what would happen if we pulled back on full throttle when we were still on the ground? We'd never get off the ground, would we? ...and we'd stay on that runway f-o-r-e-v-e-r, right? There are 2 times when you have to work hard in your career.... and YOU CAN PICK THOSE 2 TIMES.
1. One is at the beginning. Work full blast, work early and late and work hard until you get off the ground until you get to cruising altitude and then you can pull back and it's not so hard ....
OR
2. You can work just slightly less than full throttle and you can work that speed for the rest of your life and never get the take off speed to get off the ground.
Understand there's a very subtle distinction. Please hear me and REALLY understand what I'm saying, it's VERY important.... that if you work full throttle you will get off the ground and airborn. However, if you do anything less and hold back, at least at the beginning you will never reach the heights that you're capable of reaching!
You say it's the money you want, to create the lifestyle of your dreams? I'm sure it's not the face of deceased notables you're after, is it? .... it's what you believe that those notes can do for you and your family.
Work hard and know that good times and bad, if you'll work on your belief in yourself, if you'll work smart, if you'll plan your presentations, if you'll manage your time wisely, if you'll learn as much about your business, attend seminars, ask the person to buy, if you'll work on your self esteem, if you'll read and grow, if you'll self-improve as a person, you WILL receive all the growth, personal satisfaction, recognition, financial and material joy and satisfaction of whatever your aims, goals and dreams are. You will receive all you're looking for in life and be the person that you want to be and what God intended for you to be.
Tomorrow is the new beginning of another joyous and blessed day, with the ball in your hand! What are you going to do with that ball....???
Do you know how to ask to be blessed? If you have not read Bruce Wilkinson's "Prayer of Jabez", give yourself a present and purchase this very inexpensive but life changing book. His best-seller sequel "The Dream Giver" is another MUST READ. Read and apply the principles from these books and your life will be enriched and blessed beyond measure.
"I bargained with life for a penny,
Only to learn dismayed
That any wage I would have asked of life,
Life would have paid."
This caption brought me back to the question I ask myself regularly, which is "Why are so many people with such tremendous talent and big dreams, goals, and desires willing to settle for so little?"
